Cynthia Dill, Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, today announced the endorsements of Maine State Employees Association SEIU Local 1989.
"I am thrilled to receive these endorsements," Dill said. "Getting the support of these two groups is meaningful and important. They exemplify the values of hard-working Mainers, and of my campaign.
"Maine state employees are the ones who run our courts, make sure our drinking water is clean and help fellow Maine citizens who are most in need," she said.
The Maine State Employees Association SEIU Local 1989 is a labor union representing more than 15,000 public and private sector workers throughout Maine.
"They share my values of public service and supporting public institutions," Dill said. "Together, we are committed to improving the lives of workers and their families -- in the Legislature and in the U.S. Senate. I am incredibly grateful for their support."
MSEA is a member-run organization representing active and retired workers of Maine State Governments' executive, judicial and legislative branches, Maine Public Employee Retirement System, Maine Community College System, Maine Maritime Academy, Maine Turnpike Authority, City of Lewiston, Green Valley Association, Treats Falls, York County, Alpha One, Home Care for Maine, Governor Baxter School for the Deaf, Maine Military Authority, Red Cross-Bangor and Child Development Services.
"Today, the Maine State Employees Association board chose to stand with Cynthia Dill in November," MSEA President Ginette Rivard said. "Cynthia understands the importance of supporting our state's hard working public employees -- the plow truck drivers, the case workers, public health nurses -- people who are working every day to make Maine a great place to live and work.
"She has been on the side of Maine workers and working families throughout her career. She has a 100 percent voting record on issues important to the Maine State Employees Association's members. MSEA values that commitment to the working people of Maine," Rivard said.
"Cynthia Dill has stood with Maine State Employees in our tough fights, and we are standing with her in this tough fight."
