In a well-attended question and answer session with seniors yesterday afternoon at The Lafayette, a Lexington independent living and rehabilitation facility, Sixth District congressional candidate Andy Barr promised that he will fight to repeal ObamaCare and restore the more than $700 billion which Barack Obama and Ben Chandler cut from Medicare to fund ObamaCare.
"ObamaCare raids Medicare, taking over $700 billion from our seniors to pay for the radical Obama- Chandler health care scheme," Barr said. "It also imposes huge new taxes on life saving medicines and medical devices, and it establishes the Independent Payment Advisory Board, an unelected rationing board in Washington whose decisions cannot be appealed.
"By cutting Medicare reimbursements to providers and by taxing medical innovation, ObamaCare makes certain some treatments will not be available when our seniors need them.
"The proposal I support forces our government to keep its commitment to today's seniors and those near retirement, while saving and strengthening Medicare for future generations. I was glad to have the opportunity yesterday to reassure seniors in person that the plan I support makes no changes to Medicare for persons 55 years of age and over.
"I look forward to continued opportunities to contrast my commitment to Medicare with Ben Chandler's support for ObamaCare and the Independent Payment Advisory Board, which take a sledgehammer to Medicare."
