Lieberman Statement on U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Decision to Vacate the EPA's Cross-State Air Pollution Rule

Location: Washington, DC

Senator Joe Lieberman issued the following statement regarding the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit decision to vacate the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Cross-State Air Pollution Rule:

"It is regrettable that the D.C. Circuit Court has decided to vacate EPA's Cross-State Air Pollution Rule. This ruling will be particularly damaging to Connecticut and other downwind states whose residents face serious health risks because of pollution crossing the borders from other states. This decision will punish utilities that have acted in good faith, and reward those that have fought or delayed cleaning up their facilities. I hope the Administration will consider appealing this decision."
