Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today voted in support H.R. 8, the "Job Protection and Recession Prevention Act."
"American families and businesses are struggling," said Congressman Guthrie. "The economy has yet to be revived and tax hikes will only lead to more uncertainty as families and business owners try to plan for the upcoming year and their budgets."
H.R. 8 would prevent the tax hikes that are scheduled to hit all Americans by the end of the year. By extending all of the current rates for one year, Congress will have time to thoroughly debate and pass long-term tax relief and reform the tax code.
"The focus needs to be on job creation and encouraging economic growth. Business owners will not grow their workforce and expand if they are faced with a tax hike. This legislation is the first step in providing U.S. taxpayers with certainty. I look forward to working with my colleagues to establish a plan for making our tax code fairer in 2013," added Congressman Guthrie.
