Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) voted for H.R. 8, the Job Protection and Recession Prevention Act of 2012. This legislation extends the tax cuts authorized in 2001 and 2003 for another year. It also preserves vital tax credits for small businesses.
"America is facing an economic crisis. Our unemployment rate has been higher than 8 percent for 41 consecutive months. Nearly 13 million Americans are looking for work and small businesses are being hampered by new regulations. Tax increases during this time are not appropriate.
"This legislation preserves vital tax relief for families and small businesses. It ensures they will not face an additional burden in this turbulent economy. These actions ultimately will create jobs and help America regain prosperity."
