U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement today on the President's signing of the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act of 2012 (HR 1905), which she co-authored. This bipartisan bill strengthens U.S. sanctions against the Iranian regime in order to force Iran to abandon its illegal nuclear program and other dangerous policies. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
"Now that he has signed this bill, President Obama must vigorously enforce and implement its provisions in order to produce the kind of crippling pressure needed to stop Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons capabilities. This is not a time for celebration or self-congratulation. Preventing the fanatical regime in Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons capabilities is among the gravest national security challenges our nation faces, and the most important work remains to be done."
