I am not running against Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. However, the selection of Paul Ryan for Vice President refreshed my concerns about Ryan's approach to government since my opponent, Cynthia Lummis, is one of his closest allies in the U.S. House of Representative.
These are not new themes for me. In an interview with the Laramie Boomerang back in June, I addressed what Paul Ryan and Cynthia Lummis are up to:
"Congresswoman Lummis has supported the Paul Ryan budget plan. I'm much more of a proponent of the Simpson-Bowles approach (The Simpson-Bowles plan) doesn't have this desire to gut programs for the poor that, I think, the Paul Ryan approach has."
Lawmakers like Lummis are using the budget to push through an agenda that will benefit the wealthy and corporations at the expense of the middle class.
I am running for many reasons. One of those reasons is that the ideology of Ryan and Lummis needs to not only be challenged, but it needs to be defeated. Not only do I think that their extreme ideology is wrong, I know it is bad for families of Wyoming. By fighting against Cynthia Lummis, I am fighting for the families of Wyoming and America.
