Issue Position: Accessibility

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

I will be Accessible: As a Middleborough Selectman for 5 ½ years, I was the most regularly accessible member of the Board. I added the agenda item "Other" for residents to have the right to raise any and all issues, without first asking to be placed on the Agenda. As Chairman, I regularly encouraged comment from the attending citizens regarding issues before the Board.

As State Representative I plan on the following:

1. I will regularly be available to all residents regardless of party affiliation.

2. I will regularly attend the meetings of the Selectmen of Middleborough, Berkley and Lakeville, and will attend the Taunton Council meetings. I plan to attend one each week, the same week each month. Thus, my attendance will be regular and predictable, so that each government can hold issues for my attention until that scheduled week. I will be available for one hour preceding these meetings, to discuss any issues with residents.

3. I will have regular hours in each area of my district for any unanticipated matters that might arise.

4. I will meet, at least every quarter, with the Town Managers and the Taunton Mayor (or his designee), to receive regular updates on the needs of the communities in the 12th Bristol District. I want to be aware of issues as they arise, not after they become a crisis.
