As an avid sportsman, I have long supported the Second Amendment and the rights of gun owners. It is vital that we protect these traditions not only for hunters but for our children as well - so future generations can also enjoy everything our great outdoors have to offer.
I grew up hunting and fishing with my family. Now, I am passing that tradition on to my boys. I am honored to receive the endorsement of the National Rifle Association.
"The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) endorsed Ron Kind because he has defended the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in Wisconsin and across America." - Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF.
I've authored and introduced a number of bills on behalf of sportsmen, including:
The Firearms Excise Tax Improvement Act of 2010, H.R. 5552 changes the excise tax payment schedule from a bi-weekly to a quarterly schedule, making it easier for firearm and ammunition manufacturers to more easily grow their business. It also strengthens wildlife conservation funding. Made law in June 2010.
The Electronic Duck Stamp Act of 2005 established the online sale of federal duck stamps. Made law in 2005.
The Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act seeks to preserve the natural habitat of migratory birds.
The National Fish Habitat and Conservation Act seeks to protect our fish habitats for future generations.
America's Wildlife Heritage Act supports the responsible management of federal lands to preserve wildlife habitats.
The Federal Land Asset Inventory Reform Act improves federal land management, environmental protection and conservation.
The REPAIR Act combats invasive species in wildlife.
