A bill banning ingredients found synthetic drugs was signed into law by President Obama Monday, as part of a larger Food and Drug Administration bill.

Senator Amy Klobuchar, D-Minnesota, has language in that bill. That language in the bill outlaws substances like 2C-E found in synthetic drugs, which led to the death of a Minnesota teenager and hospitalized several others.

"It makes clear once and for all these are dangerous substances," Klobuchar told Eyewitness News. "We need that for education efforts, we need that for parents, but we also need it for law enforcement and prosecutors."

Klobuchar said this gives those prosecutors one more tool to use in getting the drugs off the streets.
