Last week, the US House of Representatives voted on a bill that would promote domestic energy development by directing the Obama administration to expedite additional offshore oil and gas lease sales. 4th District Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D) voted against the bill, H.R. 6082. The pro-energy measure passed the House by a tally of 253-170. Twenty-five Democrats voted in favor of the bill. The Senate has yet to act on the legislation.
Moore's 4th district opponent, Milwaukee Republican Dan Sebring commented, "Hundreds of thousands of energy jobs could be created by increased offshore drilling. Congressional Democrats such as my opponent in the 4th district in lock step with the policies of the Obama administration have failed to allow timely development of our bountiful resources. The development of domestic resources would create many thousands of permanent new jobs as well as secure the nation's energy future."
Moore has also voted against the permitting of the Keystone XL pipeline. This critical energy project, linking Canadian oil fields to US refineries, would support as many as 250,000 jobs.
This week Sebring launched a new website, aboutgwenmoore.com. This site tracks Congresswoman Moore's voting record in Congress and gives fourth district voters a clear view of the failed policies that Moore has supported since her first term in the US House of Representatives.
