Senator Jay Rockefeller today issued the following statement after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) decided not to provide individual assistance to West Virginia storm victims.
"I absolutely agree with Gov. Tomblin," said Rockefeller. "I strongly encourage FEMA's administrator to reconsider its decision and I support the Governor's appeal. Three-quarters of West Virginians were affected by the storm, and so many people are still trying to recover their losses and damages. Providing individual assistance for these West Virginians is just the right thing to do."
Rockefeller sent a letter to FEMA on July 26 urging them to provide individual assistance to West Virginians impacted by the storms that hit the state from June 29 -- July 1.
