A representative from the Office of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) discussed Brown's efforts to connect Ohio's small and mid-sized manufacturers with the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) supply chain during the "Ohio Defense Connects" conference in Dayton today. Brown is working to ensure that Ohio manufacturers have access to federal resources and opportunities to tap into existing business opportunities--particularly at Wright Patterson Air Force base and other DOD installments.

"Ohio's strong defense presence can boost our state's already strong legacy in manufacturing," Brown said. "By connecting Ohio businesses with the Defense supply chain, we can expand manufacturing and innovation, maintain and create more jobs, and generate economic activity in the Miami Valley and throughout Ohio."

Small businesses create nearly two out of every three new jobs, making small business lending critical to our economic recovery. Since 2009, Brown's office has conducted more than 30 small business workshops throughout Ohio. These workshops have provided important information on loan programs and incentives through the Small Business Administration, resources to help small businesses increase export sales, important tax incentives to help businesses invest and hire more workers and federal procurement resources for small businesses.
