- U.S. Senator Kay Hagan today announced that Revolution Energy Solutions has been awarded a $5 million loan guarantee to develop a biomass system in Duplin County.
"I'm pleased that this funding will help North Carolina move forward with crucial renewable energy production in Duplin County that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil," Hagan said. "This announcement offers further evidence that our state is becoming a national leader in developing clean energy technologies that will create new jobs and economic growth in North Carolina."
The loan guarantee will be used to establish permanent financing for a biogas to electricity project on an existing swine operation. The project will generate an estimated 10.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year and will help improve the air quality of the existing facility.
This project was one of 106 that will receive funding to produce renewable energy and make energy efficiency improvements through the US Department of Agriculture's Rural Development's Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), which was authorized by the 2008 Farm Bill.
