The Supreme Court this morning upheld the most controversial piece of legislation in recent U.S. history. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare mandates that Americans must buy government-approved private health insurance. If an individual opts not to purchase the health insurance, they are subject to a fine. The new law also mandates that business must provide health insurance to their employees or else are subject to a legal penalty. Economists, experts and legislators anticipate that this law will drive our weakened economy further towards a recession by placing additional strain on our small business owners.
Marking this historical day in our Nation's history, Congressional candidate Dr. Ted Yoho had this to say:
"It is not enough to say that I am sorely disappointed with the Supreme Court's ruling today. By upholding one of the most unconstitutional pieces of legislation in our Nation's history, our government has signaled to the American people that they are turning a deaf ear to the voices of the people.
"It is absolutely shameful that our Representatives in Congress have allowed this to happen by not standing up for their constituents. This is a very clear move in favor of a socialistic government as the government can now mandate what's its citizens can and cannot buy. Both the Senate and the House need to rally to repeal this disastrous piece of legislation for the sake of our Country. The damage and further confusion that this law will create in our market place will drive our Nation into a deeper recession. As a small business owner, I can tell you that this move is the worst thing the government could have done to the back bone of America.
"We need strong leaders in Washington who are not afraid to stand up to the President and the Supreme Court. I think that this ruling signals the major change we must see in Washington -- leaders who are willing to lead rather go along with the crowd. This is no longer about Republican or Democrat -- This is about being an American. If we are to remain the Constitutional Republic of the United States of America, then we must take action now. We can't afford to send another politician who pretends to know what it's like out in the real world. We need to send a fighter from the trenches."
