As a fourth-generation Alaskan, I have tremendous respect and admiration for the pioneers and elders of our great state. Past generations put Alaska on a path to become the great state it is, and set an example for the future. The state has a responsibility and a duty to help these venerable individuals live independent, active, and productive lives. I've worked in the Legislature to strengthen Alaska's commitment to seniors, elders, and those with age-related disabilities. Supporting our state's Pioneer and Veteran's Homes, as well as community-based centers will help ensure they receive the respect and care they are due.
