I was a leader for both Civil Unions and Marriage equality. As one of approximately 30 Representatives who was present for enactment of both laws I take great pride in our accomplishment. There are few moments when we can pass legislation that removes such blatant inequities in our society. These laws will be recorded in history as major moments in our moving forward as a society. We must continue to be outspoken to change our national policies to extend the same rights and responsibilities to all US (and global) citizens.
