"One of the main reasons I'm running for Congress is to press for the immediate removal of our troops from Afghanistan. When I came home from my second deployment to the Middle East, as soon as I stepped off the plane and felt the sweet trade winds caressing my face and held my family in my arms, I felt an indescribable and overwhelming joy. But I also felt a deep sadness for my brothers and sisters in uniform who were still in the war zone far away from their families, and for those heroes who would never have the chance to come home because they made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. That sadness is still with me and it is why I am determined to do whatever I can to ensure that my brothers and sisters in uniform not remain in Afghanistan for a single day longer than absolutely necessary. It is time to bring our troops home to the loving embrace of their families."
