Senator Baumgartner issued this statement today in response to the June jobs report, the third in a row that showed weak growth and failed to move the unemployment rate:
"I'm deeply disappointed in June's jobs report," Senator Baumgartner said. "The news is devastating to the millions of Americans out of work and looking desperately for optimism from our government. Unfortunately, they're looking at the worst quarter of job growth the US has seen in two years.
"If you listen to Maria Cantwell and her talk about "jobs, jobs, jobs,' you might believe that the economy is improving, that jobs are being created. In reality, the failed policies of Maria Cantwell, along with Senate Democrats and President Obama, have done nothing but hurt job growth.
"Together, they passed a huge tax increase on small business with the passage of Obamacare, and Cantwell has frequently denied the passage of energy projects that would create tens of thousands of jobs, such as the Keystone Pipeline.
"For all her talk about "jobs, jobs, jobs,' Cantwell has done nothing to remove the obstacles businesses face when looking to grow and hire more workers. We need new leadership to make decisions that actually create results for the American worker."
