Congressman Clarke has made some very serious yet very vague allegations. He should clearly and specifically tell us whom he is accusing of questioning his heritage in this campaign.
Racial lines have divided our region for too long. This campaign should be about candidates' track records, and not muddied by open-ended accusations that leave voters to guess who might be engaging in such tactics.
I believe the voters deserve to know that neither I nor anyone associated with my campaign would ever attack anyone's heritage or race. That said, I agree with Congressman Clarke that race should not be a factor in this election. I hope all the candidates will join me in running a campaign based on our records and the issues that matter most to the families of the Greater Detroit region."
