Dr. Syed Taj (D-Canton) candidate for Congress from Michigan's 11th Congressional District issued the following statement on yesterday's shooting in Wisconsin:
"I am deeply saddened by the attack on the Sikh Temple in Oak Tree. Sofia and I send our deepest condolences to the victims' families and trust they know that they are not only in our thoughts and prayers but those of the entire nation. As an Indo-American the apparent motivations for this attack are deeply troubling, however we must not allow the cloud of violence perpetrated by a deranged gunman to break our bonds as one community united in our love and dedication to this great nation."
"This senseless attack and the attack in Colorado remind all of us to cherish our loved ones and hold them close. Moreover, these attacks are a call to action, because as a nation we must begin to discuss how we can end these mass shootings and emerge from these tragedies stronger and more united. I will do whatever is in my power, both as a physician and an elected official, to help us heal and prevent future tragedies."
