Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) today issued the following statement regarding Governor Mitt Romney's selection of Representative Paul Ryan to be his running mate:
"Paul Ryan has extraordinary knowledge of the federal budget and deficit, which is important to tackling the $16 trillion debt burdening our country's economy and taxpayers. While I did not support Congressman Ryan's budget proposals, I give him enormous credit for taking on this significant issue, something the President regrettably has failed to do."
