State government needs to live within its means, just as all Minnesota families do. By stopping and even reversing the expansive growth of government, we can protect individual rights and our long-term economic independence. The Legislature also must deal with the state's debt. We cannot continue to ignore the unfunded liabilities of public pension funds, which could be as high as $19 billion. These are promises that were easily made, but difficult to keep the longer they go unaddressed.
