Dr. Dan Benishek issued the following statement about the stagnating Michigan unemployment rate for June, which rose from 8.5 percent to 8.6 percent.
"The unemployment rate in Michigan has been far too high for far too long. Each month we see the proof that Democrats in Washington have created a business climate that is harmful to job creators and failing Michiganders. Instead of encouraging businesses to succeed, big government policies and overregulation are hampering growth. As I've toured northern Michigan on my 100 in 100 Tour, visiting small businesses to hear their struggles, I've heard the same concerns echoed at each stop. Job providers are desperate for a more predictable, simpler tax code, fewer regulations, and a repeal and replacement of the new healthcare law with a system that lessens the burden on job providers and lowers cost. These aren't outrageous requests, but common sense solutions to revive our economy and put Americans back to work."
