Today, Congressman Bob Turner (NY-09) cast his vote in favor of H.R. 4078, the Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act to curb overregulation until the federal unemployment rate drops below six percent.
"Small business owners are being held down by the mountains of red tape being laid out before them in Washington. This bill will create a necessary safeguard for our small businesses from President Obama's daily desire to increase regulation. It will release them from the burdensome financial regulations that have been handcuffing them from doing business and stunting American economic growth. This bill, simply put, will allow our small businesses to return to actually being able to do business. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and we need to provide them the stability and security to thrive so that they can do what they do best, create the jobs America needs so that we can finally bring the unacceptably high unemployment rate down."
President Obama's administration has proposed 3,118 regulations to date; or, roughly 2.5 regulations per day since he has taken office. President Obama is on track to add more pages to the Federal Register than any other President in history with an astonishing 82,000 pages in 2011 alone. Those pages account for $231.4 billion dollars in regulatory burdens issued by the Obama administration during that time.
