As a teacher for nearly 30 years, I know what our classrooms need and I am committed to providing high quality education for all students, ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
We need to take a critical look at how we fund education. Minnesota schools are struggling with fewer and fewer resources. The State cannot use our schools as a credit card to solve its long term budget problems. We must fully fund special education. At the same time, we must work to reduce class size, and make sure that we have the best trained, most qualified teachers in the world. We must also allow teachers the opportunity to do what they do bestÂ…to teach. We must invest in early childhood and fully fund all day kindergarten. We must also address the rising costs of higher education. Keeping college affordable is one way of ensuring today's students are tomorrow's leaders. Investing in them is an investment in our future.
