Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1776 that human beings have certain unalienable rights and that the purpose of government is to secure those rights. Our present government has strayed far from that purpose. Certainly at various times during our history, some who were not included in the full armor of that protection from the beginning have been enabled to enjoy the freedoms all Americans possess by birthright. Yet, I believe that if the liberty that was secured by the American Revolution is to be retained, the course of action set by Washington must be drastically altered. Those now in positions of responsibility have confused that privilege with the assumption of power. They have assumed power that we, the people, have not given them. There is a gradual disenfranchisement of our rights with almost every act of the government, whether it be the legislature, the executive, or the judiciary. This must not only stop, but be reversed.

These acts have effected our physical health and safety, our economic well being, and our ability to seek the lifestyle we choose, in short, our pursuit of happiness. They have acted sometimes with good intentions, sometimes for personal gain, sometimes with self-righteousness, and sometimes with condescending arrogance, but almost always with a complete disregard for the limitations placed upon them by our constitutional republic.

Certainly this is not new. Acts of this nature began as early as the John Adams administration, but the last half century has been particularly abusive, and the cumulative effect of each new exploitation brings us closer to the tyranny that we once threw off. As a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, I am asking for your help to reverse the abuses of power inflicted on the American people by our government when they sanctioned the following activities:
They have devalued the money by creating a debt based fiat currency. They have failed to maintain an asset backed currency. They have given and lent public money for decidedly private purposes. These acts are in violation of Article I, Section 8 and 10.
They have sent troops, money, equipment and other support to aid foreign nations in wars and covert actions without a lawful congressional declaration of war, engaging in non-defensive military action in over 130 countries. They have committed troops to serve as mercenaries in foreign conflicts under the auspices of the United Nations.
They have imposed an unapportioned tax on labor in violation of Article I, Section 8 and 9, without a proper Amendment to the Constitution, and without consistency to Supreme Court rulings.
They have passed bills in conflict with the constitution. Questioning them about which authority the bills are passed under results in silence.
They have meddled in the internal affairs of foreign nations, causing their citizens to direct their hostility towards the U.S.
They have emitted unconstitutional bills of credit through the Federal Reserve System, incurring debts for the payment of unconstitutional activities or expenditures.
They have allowed the erosion of individual and state sovereignty by claiming powers for the Federal Government not authorized by the Constitution, and strictly prohibited by the 9th and 10th Amendments. They have attempted to vest some of that power in supra-national organizations such as the UN, the IMF, NAFTA, NATO and others.
They have refused to respond to 1st Amendment petitions for redress of grievances. The courts have dismissed petitions for lack of standing.
They have violated the 2nd Amendment by infringing on the peoples right to bear arms.
They have invaded the privacy of non-criminal Americans by obtaining and storing information about them in violation of the 4th, 5th, 9th and 10th Amendments.
They have confiscated private property for non-public purposes, and have engaged in Government ownership of non-public companies. This is in violation of the 4th and 5th Amendments.
They have impaired justice by misinformation and incorrect instructions to juries. Judges have presided over cases when there was a conflict of interest. They have defied the 6th and 7th Amendments.
They have prosecuted Americans for activities which have no victims. Prosecutions include activities involving drugs, sex, medical assistance, taxation and currencies. More than half the prison population in America is incarcerated for non-violent, non-larcenous, consensual adult behavior.
They have prohibited the free choice of medical treatment.
They have allowed the torture of POWs and criminal suspects.
They have protected the infliction of violence on their own citizens such as the transgressions at Ruby Ridge.
They have enacted forfeiture laws which take private property without due process of law, in violation of the 5th Amendment.
They have assessed heavy fines for minor offenses, in violation of the 8th Amendment.
We cannot allow inaction to furnish an opportunity for our present government to become more destructive. Please help me, in any way you can, to restore our government to one that functions within the powers approved to it by the people. The time is now. As Edmund Burke said, The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
