Austin believes that energy independence is an issue of national security. To achieve the energy independence, we must utilize all of the resources available to us domestically. With proper safety measures, domestic oil production should continue to be a key part of America's energy portfolio. In addition, we must develop alternative resources here at home. America has abundant sources of wind, hydro, nuclear power, and bio fuels.
