In recent weeks, incumbent politicians have bragged about growth in the gross domestic product, jobs, pay and touted declines in unemployment. But yet a January 12 Gallup poll found that 55% of Americans rated the economy as only '' Fair or Poor'', and that 52% believed the economy is getting worse. Economic growth and job opportunities- develop blighted areas and solicit anchor stores for jobs. Dade jobless rate climbed to 7.8 percent in March. South Florida 's unemployment rate jumped to 7.7 percent during March, an increase of 2.8 percentage points from a year ago and the biggest monthly rise in 13 years. The jobless rates of the two counties that comprise the South Florida Workforce Region were 7.8 percent in Miami-Dade, an increase of 2.8 percent points, and 6.1 percent in Monroe County , an increase of 3.0 Percentage points. In a labor force of 1,234,059, 95,162 persons were unemployed in the two-county region. Still, the rate was 1.8 percentage points lower than for the state, which stood at 9.5 percent. Slower job growth in the region was partially offset by education and health services which was the only industry that gained jobs over the year (1,800 jobs). The Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall metropolitan division saw overall employment decline by 50,000 jobs over the year. Professional and business services lost the most jobs (12,800 jobs), followed by mining, logging, and construction (12,200 jobs), trade, transportation and utilities (10,300 jobs), government (4,500 jobs). Manufacturing lost 3,600 jobs, leisure and hospitality, 3,100, financial activities, 2,300, and information and other services, combined, 1,500. We need to jump start our economy to help working families who are bearing the brunt of the economy crisis. Our current economic concerns are very real and serious. I've experienced the ''Turn out the lights of our problems in district 108. I have worked all over Miami ; I have a solid background in economic interests and commitment to jobs growth in our region. I will work to keep aerospace jobs here, to support our high tech community, and to help small businesses succeed. Insurance/Taxation- find solutions to the high coast of property taxes and insurance premiums. As your State Representative, I'm prepared to lead our region through these difficult times and to bring economic opportunities here to our market. Social services programs enhancements- provide awareness programs to inform and assist Citizens.
