U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement in response to reports that national unemployment reached 8.3 percent in July 2012:

"Contrary to President Obama's claims that "the private sector is doing fine,' national unemployment is still hovering above 8 percent for the 42nd consecutive month thanks to this administration's failed economic policies.

"Instead of bragging that "we tried our plan, and it worked' and telling small business owners "you didn't build that,' President Obama should start working with Republicans to pass pro-growth tax policies that will help create more certainty for job creators and jumpstart our nation's economy."
