Congressman John B. Larson released the following statement today on the Department of Labor's July employment report:
"As we continue to recover from the worst economic crisis since the great depression, today's jobs numbers are encouraging news. Yet the real story is that more work needs to be done -- something that Republicans in Congress refuse to do ."
"This week, the House of Representatives had the opportunity to prevent a tax hike of $2,200 on the average middle class family of four. Yet instead of joining with the President, Senate, and House Democrats to provide economic certainty to American families, House Republicans continued to hold middle class tax relief hostage to protect tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires."
"House Republicans would rather begin a five week summer vacation than roll up their sleeves and get to work for the American people. We owe it to the millions of unemployed workers to reach across the aisle and fight to make the American dream a reality.
"Congress cannot afford to waste a single day. We must work together to get America back to work."
