As we begin to dig ourselves out of this recession, we must focus sharply on ways to recapture the over 270,000 jobs still lost in our state since 2008. As a policy maker, together with statewide leaders in science, business, healthcare and sustainable energies I will continue my work to attract greater venture capital investment and high-tech companies, adding thousands of new and good paying jobs to our struggling economy.
I believe Arizona mutt move more aggressively to assist the growth and development of renewable industries, such as solar energy, also adding jobs to our economy. We must take advantage of our favorable climate and talent to take the initiative away from China, one of the present leaders in solar energy development.
I believe the economic and budgetary mess we are in can be turned around with sound economic and tax policies. Small businesses are the backbone of our state's struggling economy, and they must be supported with an equitable tax base and job growth incentives in order for them to survive and thrive.
And we must never lose sight of the fact that a high quality education system is the centerpiece of a successful economic development effort for our state.
