Investing in our infrastructure keeps us competitive nationally and globally, while putting Minnesotans in the construction trades back to work. Thanks to bonding bills passed by the legislature and signed by Governor Dayton, Minnesotans are back to work fixing our roads and bridges and improving our higher education institutions.
I grew up in a union family, and I know the importance of the union movement. I support a worker's right to organize, and bargain collectively for working conditions, wages, and benefits. Whether or not a Minnesota worker belongs to a union, the union movement has raised the bar in this country. The union movement brought America a middle class, and they are fighting to maintain it. I am fighting alongside them.
I believe in tax incentives for Minnesota companies that keep their jobs in state, rather than sending them overseas. Businesses make hiring decisions based on demand for their product or service. Growing and strengthening our declining middle class, so that they have purchasing power in the marketplace, is essential to making our economy strong.
