U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita (IN-4) today issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to pass S. 3412, which would hike taxes on families, small businesses, and farmers:
"Incredibly, the Senate voted to pass, over bipartisan opposition, a bill that does exactly what President Obama said we shouldn't do: raise taxes in a recession. This would directly harm families and small businesses who are already suffering under this administration's tax policies.
"Our economy is too fragile for the president and his allies in Congress to be engaging in this kind of class warfare. That's why I've been working with my colleagues in the House to pass legislation that would stop everyone's taxes from going up. And it's why I'll be holding Congress on Your Corner events and a town hall meeting over the next two weeks to talk with Hoosiers who would be hit hardest by these looming tax hikes," said Rokita.
