Congressman Robert Hurt today released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 4078, the Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act. This is a package of seven bills that will reduce regulatory burdens on our small business owners to make it easier for them to create the jobs that our local communities need:
"When our small businesses are forced to spend more time complying with federal regulations, they spend less time creating the jobs that communities across the 5th District and across this country need. At a time when our national unemployment has remained over 8% for more than three years and our national debt has reached nearly $16 trillion, the current regulatory structure is only making things worse.
"Whether it is the government takeover of health care, regulations restricting credit and access to capital for families and businesses with Dodd-Frank, or the continued threat of burdensome rulemaking by the EPA, Americans across this country are faced with more regulations, more government, and less economic freedom.
"The Red Tape Reduction And Job Creation Act is yet another piece of legislation the House has adopted to reduce the size and scope of the federal government in order to lighten the burden on our small business owners. This legislation will help remove the federal government as a barrier to job creation by ensuring that we have a more responsible regulatory structure so they can get back to growing their businesses and creating jobs."
