Congressional candidate John Delaney has been endorsed by the Sierra Club. In Maryland's Sixth District race, Delaney faces twenty-year Republican incumbent Roscoe Bartlett. Founded in 1892 and home to over 1.3 million members, the Sierra Club is one of the largest environmental organizations in the United States.
"Protecting our nation's natural resources must be a priority," said Delaney. "We need clean air and clean water to keep our families healthy and to build a sustainable future for our children and grandchildren. Our natural resources are the employment and economic base for our future. In Congress I will work towards greater conservation efforts, support measures that reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and push for green energy jobs."
"The Sierra Club is pleased and proud to endorse John Delaney in Maryland's 6th Congressional District race because of his clear commitment to protecting America's air and water resources and to the ongoing work of the Environmental Protection Agency," said David O'Leary, chair of the Maryland Chapter of the Sierra Club. "John Delaney understands that we need a national energy policy which encourages energy conservation and promotes clean, renewable sources of energy that will create good jobs in this country and contribute to a healthier future."
