Congressman Ruben Hinojosa Announces Federal Grant Awarded to the City of Harlingen Police Department

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced a grant for $29,387 was awarded to the City of Harlingen Police Department by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG).

"I want to congratulate everyone who worked very hard to ensure that the Harlingen Police Department would be a recipient of this very important grant from the U.S. Department of Justice," said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa. "The JAG grants are directly focused on assisting police officers by providing funds for their various needs in an effort to create safe communities. Several cities in the 15th Congressional District of Texas have been recipients of the JAG grants and I am very pleased to see that the City of Harlingen is among them."

The JAG funding will be used to purchase law enforcement equipment and supplies for the Harlingen Police Department.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions.
