U.S. Senator David Vitter today made the following comment after the non-partisan Congressional Research Service released a new report showing that the Obama administration's 5-year plan for energy production and leasing on the outer continental shelf is the worst in recent history.
"In Louisiana we know that offshore energy production is one of the best economic forces our country has," Vitter said. "Obama's five-year lease plan for offshore production is only half of what the previous plan was - moving us in the complete wrong direction of where our energy production should be headed. A telling sign the Obama plan is bad: is if your energy outlook looks worse than President Jimmy Carter's, you have a pretty big problem."
Last week Sens. Vitter and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) introduced legislation to replace the Obama administration's 5-year plan for energy production and leasing on the outer continental shelf with a 5-year plan that is more in line with the energy and economic needs of the United States.
