Graves: We're Exhausting All Measures to Remove This Law, Because It's a Barrier to Job Growth

Statement

House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) today issued the following statement after voting for the Repeal of Obamacare Act (H.R. 6079):

"The President's health care law is making it harder for small businesses to hire. The Democrats claimed the small business health care tax credit would help small firms deal with the burdensome requirements of the law, but a recent GAO report found that it has been grossly ineffective. Despite an aggressive outreach effort from the White House, including using taxpayer money to mail millions of postcards to small businesses, only 170,300 small firms claimed even a portion of the credit in 2010, despite the claim from Democrats that as many as 4 million firms would take advantage of it. Small businesses know that a complex, temporary band aid credit is not an adequate solution to compliance with the health care law's taxes and mandates, therefore repeal of the entire law presents the best option. In the midst of a sluggish economy and unemployment crisis, House Republicans are focused on jobs. That is why we're exhausting all measures possible to remove this law, because it is a barrier to job growth, plain and simple."
