Today, following a 19-1 vote by the New York City Council Land Use Committee in favor of the NYU 2031 Expansion Plan, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) released the following statement:
"The additional density reduction and community amenities are welcome improvements to NYU's proposed development in the Village, and I appreciate the hard work by Councilwoman Chin and the City Council to achieve those changes. However, I still have serious concerns about preserving the affordability of 505 LaGuardia, the Mitchell-Lama housing development on the southern superblock. NYU must continue negotiations with the community to ensure the retention of permanently affordable housing in the neighborhood."
