Brady Statement on Senate Consideration of the DISCLOSE Act

Location: Washington, DC

Today, the U.S. Senate voted on consideration of the DISCLOSE Act. This vote was the first action taken by either chamber on the critical need to improve transparency in our elections.

"I'd like to commend Senator Whitehouse for introducing this bill and Senator Reid for bringing it up for consideration. Even though we could not overcome the threat of a Republican filibuster, it's good to see the Senate actually debating such an important issue," said House Administration Ranking Member Robert Brady (D-PA). "We introduced the House version of DISCLOSE back in February. Despite our repeated requests, a discharge petition, and an overwhelming majority of Americans supporting disclosure, House Republicans have refused to hold even a single hearing on DISCLOSE."
