Congressman Steve Rothman (NJ-9), a member of the House Appropriations Defense; and State and Foreign Operations Subcommittees, released the following statement on his support for and passage of the U.S.-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act on July 17, 2012 by voice vote.

The bipartisan passage of the U.S.-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act by the U.S. House of Representatives sends a clear message to Israel's enemies that Congress and President Obama stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel. By guaranteeing $9 billion in loans to Israel through 2015 and extending the ability of the United States to transfer defense stockpiles to Israel, this legislation reaffirms the United States' unwavering commitment to the security of the Jewish State of Israel. Under President Obama's leadership, there has been an unprecedented level of military and intelligence cooperation between the United States and Israel. The U.S.-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act builds on that historic foundation and will continue to provide the Jewish State of Israel with the qualitative and quantitative advantages it needs to prevail against all who seek to do her harm.
