I have always stressed the importance of education to family and friends as I know it is a key indicator of success in life. Conversely, there are two prime factors most common in our prison inmates. Prior to being incarcerated they typically do not have a job, and their lack of proficiency in basic academic skills made it difficult for them to function in most of today's employment opportunities. All of my children were educated K -12 in the Effingham County Public School System and I believe they all had the opportunity to receive a good education commensurate with their God-given abilities. Every child should have access to a good public school education and I will always advocate on behalf of education at all levels.
