Issue Position: Powering the Future

Issue Position

Creating an infrastructure that provides abundant cheap clean energy and the free movement of goods and services is crucial to the future competitiveness of the U.S. economy. I believe by encouraging and harnessing the innovative power of private industries, we can do this. In Congress I push for a comprehensive national energy policy, designed to lower the cost of developing energy alternatives and will support investment in our nation's highways, air traffic control system, harbors, broadband network, and rail system. That is why I voted in favor of the Keystone pipeline. It was a step towards our dependence on foreign oil while supplying Kansans with thousands of new jobs through private industry. I was adamantly opposed the SOPA/PIPA bills which would have legalized government regulation of the internet. As your congressman I encourage investment and creativity. I don't discourage it.
