Mayor Mia Love, the Republican nominee for Utah's 4th Congressional District, has released the following statement on today's vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act:

"I commend the Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives for voting to repeal ObamaCare. Regardless of your party affiliation, President Obama's health care law is bad policy for our country and for our future. It imposes one of the largest tax increases in our nation's history, which will be largely borne by working, middle class Americans. ObamaCare puts us on a road to unaffordable, unsustainable, government-managed, one-size-fits-all health care."

"As expected, Jim Matheson once again made a vote of political expediency. In early 2011, Matheson showed his true colors and voted against repealing ObamaCare when the political ramifications were minimal. Last night, he voted against the rule which allowed today's repeal vote to occur. Today, he stuck his finger in the wind and voted "aye" in a desperate attempt to save face and save his job in November."

"Utahns have been consistently and unequivocally opposed to ObamaCare. The members of Utah's Congressional delegation have stood firm with the people of Utah in opposing ObamaCare in every vote that has come to the floor -- except for Jim Matheson. Jim Matheson has changed. He no longer puts Utah first."

"The people of Utah's 4th District need a representative in Washington who will be principled, firm, and consistent in opposing ObamaCare's massive tax increases, spending, and intrusions on our personal liberties. When I am elected to Congress, I will work with Mitt Romney to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with the kinds of commonsense, market-based reforms that Utahns want and deserve."
