Indiana State Treasurer & U.S. Senate Candidate Richard Mourdock reacted to the news that the June unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.2% from May. Indiana has weathered the economic uncertainty over the past several years better than most.
"President Obama's "stimulus' plan and other big government policies like ObamaCare -- a massive tax on Americans -- have not spurred long-term economic growth and have pushed our national debt to over $15 trillion.
"Congressman Joe Donnelly -- who routinely dodges questions about his support for Obama -- has repeatedly enabled the President's agenda by voting for the failed stimulus plan, the federal government's takeover of health care, the bailout of Wall Street and has voted to raise the debt ceiling seven times to pay for it all.
"In contrast, Indiana has weathered the economic uncertainty better than most and our state is only one of two states with an actual surplus. We did that by cutting the size of government, reducing spending and create an environment where businesses would want to locate. Those are the type of principles I want to take to Washington, DC," stated Treasurer Mourdock.
