Cheri Bustos Statement on Today's Jobs Report

Cheri Bustos, Democratic candidate for Congress in Illinois 17th District, released the following statement on today's report from the U.S. Department of Labor:
"Today's report is a clear sign there should be no greater priority for our leaders in Washington than job creation. While slow improvement continues, it is not fast enough for the many Illinoisians who are still searching for work.

"On Day 1 of my campaign, I discussed the creation of a "Manufacturing Triangle." We must promote manufacturing and innovation in America -- and right here we have three great anchors in the Quad-Cities, Rockford and Peoria. We have the skilled work force, the infrastructure and the innovative capacity to make this region a hub of manufacturing growth, and I will work hard to promote the region.

"We must also work to end the tax loopholes tax breaks for companies that are shipping American jobs overseas. It's the responsibility of our representatives to work for us, not corporations they are relying on to keep them in office.

"As I travel across the 17th District, the people I talk with are frustrated that job creation continues to take a backseat to partisan politics in Washington. I'm running to change that."
