Issue Position

Our nation is on an unsustainable path. Since the beginning of 2009, wasteful spending like the failed $825 billion stimulus has caused our national debt to increase by nearly $5 trillion and today it stands at over $15.7 trillion -- more than $50,000 for every American. This cannot continue. We need courageous leaders in Washington who will make the necessary cuts to reduce our spending to sustainable levels.

Rodney supports passage of a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution that would force Washington to recognize the same basic truth that confronts anyone who has ever managed a family budget -- you cannot spend more than you take in. Rodney will vote against any future increase in the debt ceiling that is not accompanied by significant, credible spending reforms.
