Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) released this statement in support of repealing the President's health care law, called Obamacare. Sensenbrenner highlighted that the law hurts our economy and attacks our religious liberty:
"Obamacare's mandates, regulations, and all 21 taxes make this a jobs issue, plain and simple. Of the taxes, 12 of them hit the middle class. I hear from small businesses in my district that would like to expand, but health care costs are skyrocketing and Obamacare is only making the future more uncertain. In fact, the law is a disincentive to expand. The employer mandate forces any business with 50 or more employees to provide government-approved insurance or face a $2,000 tax. What business would expand beyond 49 workers with that kind of tax looming? This hurts Americans looking for work."
"Obamacare gives the federal government the tools to tax religiously-affiliated schools, hospitals, universities and soup kitchens right out of existence. This is the question facing religious institutions and concerned employers today: will you violate your conscience and religious beliefs or pay a hefty tax to follow your faith?"
