Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives voted to fully repeal Obamacare.
"President Obama's health care law has failed the American people by increasing health care costs, raising hundreds of billions in new taxes on hard-working families, and interfering with the relationship between doctors and patients, and it must be repealed," Scalise said. "It's time for President Obama and the liberals in the Senate to listen to the American people who overwhelmingly oppose this law, and it's time for the Senate to step up to the plate, follow suit, and vote to repeal Obamacare. We've seen in just the last two years how destructive President Obama's government takeover of health care has been to our economy and our health care system.
"As if that weren't enough, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office recently projected that millions more Americans will lose their health care coverage because of Obamacare and also updated the cost of President Obama's health care law from $940 billion to $1.76 trillion, adding another mountain of debt onto the backs of our children and grandchildren.
"There is another way, and that's to allow patients and families to determine the care they receive instead of Washington. The House vote to repeal Obamacare is the first step in reforming health care, but the American people need to take it a step further and repeal Barack Obama as President this November to fully reverse the impact of this horrible law."
